Sophie's Summer Internship at RBH

Following a ten-week internship, Sophie talks about her time at RBH

Hi, I’m Sophie. I’m soon to be going into my third year at Bath Spa University where I am studying Business Management and Marketing. This summer, I’ve had an amazing opportunity to do a ten-week internship in the client services department at RBH Creative Communications.

Before starting, I’d done the odd weeks’ worth of work experience and a few part-time jobs but never anything in marketing. Naturally, I was a little apprehensive, however, with the team’s support and guidance, I have not only been able to complete the jobs set but I’ve also learnt so much along the way.

To be able to contribute across so many teams and clients has broadened my knowledge and skill-sets. Tasks have included; helping to organise up-and-coming events, inputting data, creating GIFs for Young British Designers (YBD) and research. Supporting summer events and local charity initiatives has given me insight into event management, and given me skills I can now take forward.

The most enjoyable tasks have been researching Christmas events and contacting businesses to get quotes about hiring products for the activity, as well as social media management for commercial accounts. This has been particularly interesting as this is an area which I’m hoping to focus on for my dissertation.

Reflecting on my time at RBH, it has made me realise that agency work is something I would consider after I finish my degree. There has never been a dull moment and I am so thankful for RBH for taking me on as their intern, and giving me such an invaluable insight into life at one of The Midlands’ top creative communication agencies.
