Fashion and Jewellery Exchange

This Friday 13th May our MD and founder of Young British Designers will be speaking at The Fashion and Jewellery Exchange event at Birmingham City University School of Jewellery.

Debra will be joining buyers from Selfridges, John Lewis and River Island who will be giving designers and start-ups the opportunity to showcase their products.

The event is part of the Exchange series of events run by small business support group Enterprise Nation aimed at joining up big businesses with small for trade.

Enterprise Nation founder Birmingham champ and event organiser Debbie Assinder said: “The Fashion and Jewellery Exchange is an opportunity to make the kind of contacts young brands need to take them to the next level – as well as hearing inspirational success stories and picking up the tools and skills needed to kick-start and run a successful retail business.”

The day-long event will hear from Emma Mortimer, former director of online fashion retailer The Outnet and Net a Porter as well as River Island e-commerce buyer Helen Colclough and Eleanor Robinson, head of the Selfridges womenswear buying team.

Alison Lewy, director of fashion investment and advisory firm Fashion Angel will talk about the essential stand-out ingredients young brands need to develop to get noticed.

There will also be a chance to hear the start-up journeys of local fashion and jewellery brands including Deakin & Francis and Struthers and pitch brands to buyers.

A panel of top fashion journalists will take questions from the floor on how to present a new brand and get noticed by the press.

The day starts at 9.30am and will be hosted by Emma Jones, MBE.
